Our Mission
The Wapato Wellness Coalition is working to create a community where everyone experiences a feeling of safety and well-being through prevention, education, and intervention of substance abuse.
Wapato Wellness Coalition is built upon community members changing and shaping lives of others. The work we do in Wapato is aimed toward providing a drug-free community for our youth. We make sure our partners are empowered by creating opportunities for individuals and the community.
What is a Community coalition?
The Wapato Wellness Coalition is funded under the Community Prevention & Wellness Initiative (CPWI). CPWI launched in 2011 under the dividion of Behavioral Health & Recovery. With the intention of providing substance use disorder prevention services & strategies through local coalitions.
Through partnerships with counties & school districts across Washington, CPWI is implemented statewide in:
- Nearly 100 communities
- All 39 counties
- All 9 Educational Service District
CPWI uses the model of a community and school-based coalition for delivering prevention programs & strategies to reduce underage misuse of alcohol, cannabis, opioids, tobacco and other drugs. This model uses data-informed & a community-level decision making process.
